What is Cutera Xeo Nd:YAG?
The Xeo Nd:YAG handpiece is touted as the Cutera’s signature wavelength option for the treatment of a multitude of skin conditions such as pigmented and vascular lesions, wrinkles, and unwanted hair. The truPulse Nd:YAG provides clinicians with up to 15 treatment applications, making it a versatile and complete platform in the field of skin revitalization. In addition, this powerful laser handpiece can be used for Cutera’s signature laser genesis procedure, a non-invasive treatment designed to restore skin tone.
How does Cutera Xeo Nd:YAG Work?
The Xeo Nd:YAG handpiece destroys pigmented and vascular lesions by the process of selective photothermolysis. It works by emitting highly controlled laser energy into the areas of skin imperfection, which in turn increases the blood temperature at a level that causes coagulation while preventing damage to the surrounding tissue. As a result, the abnormal blood vessels causing the vascular lesion start to shrink and are naturally eliminated by the cells of the immune system. In the case of pigmentation, the laser energy is absorbed by the melanin in the skin, increasing the temperature within the pigment and ultimately destroying it. The same process also applies in removing unwanted hair. The laser-induced heat destroys the hair follicle and prevents future hair regrowth. Over time, the target area becomes smoother, healthier, and aesthetically pleasing.
Is Cutera Xeo Nd:YAG Treatment Safe?
The treatment process is very safe because the Xeo Nd:YAG handpiece provides contact cooling before, during, and after each laser pulse, thereby preventing injury while increasing patient comfort.
