What is the Syneron AC Handpiece?

The Syneron AC handpiece combines the power of laser energy and bi-polar radio frequency (RF) in order to treat the root cause of acne and improve scarring associated with this medical condition. This handpiece works with both the Syneron eLight and Syneron Emax base units.

How does the Syneron AC Work?

By combining laser energy and bi-polar RF,         the Syneron AC handpiece selectively targets the sebaceous glands (oil glands) and acne bacteria. The RF energy works by reducing the activity of the oil glands while blue light simultaneously kills the Propionibacterium acnes (P. acnes), which is the causative agent of acne. On the other hand, the laser energy heats the area while the integrated contact cooling protects against thermal injury. Once the required temperature is achieved, the production of collagen in the target area significantly increases. Since 80%-90% of patients suffering from acne scars have scars caused by loss of collagen, this innovative laser technique restores collagen levels in the area. As a result, the process of skin cell renewal speeds up. Over time, the appearance of the scar tissue dramatically improves as new healthy cells migrate in the area. With additional treatments, patients can achieve smoother, radiant, and younger-looking skin.
