Finding service for Candela or Cynosure equipment is usually straightforward.
Finding someone willing to troubleshoot a Fotona QX MAX, Quanta Light 4V, older Palomar, or less-common RF platform can be much harder.
That is where aesthetic equipment repair becomes less about the logo and more about understanding the technology inside the machine.

InMode Repair: Morpheus8 and Diolaze
InMode platforms combine several different technologies.
Morpheus8 uses radiofrequency rather than laser energy. Diolaze is a diode hair-removal platform.
That means they need different diagnostic approaches.
Morpheus8 Applicator Repair
One Morpheus8 applicator we evaluated had stopped treating.
The fault traced to damaged RF contact pins at the applicator interface.
Instead of replacing the entire applicator, the technician identified the damaged component and the repair needed.
That is the advantage of component-level troubleshooting.
Diolaze Cooling and Trigger Problems
A Diolaze XL 810 presented with two problems:
- A failed trigger switch
- Reduced water flow
The repair included replacing the trigger switch and servicing the diode delivery assembly.
Cooling deserves immediate attention on diode systems.
Restricted flow can affect both reliability and thermal performance.
If a diode platform reports a flow or cooling problem, do not treat the warning as something to work around.
Quanta Laser Repair: A Complicated Symptom With a Simple Cause
One Quanta Light 4V arrived with several complaints:
- Coolant-flow errors
- Freezing touchscreen
- Handpiece communication problems
That sounds expensive.
The cooling problem was not.
After opening the system, our technician found two cracked quick-connect fittings.
The fittings had allowed the chill-tip reservoir to drain.
After replacing the damaged fittings and restoring the coolant system, the machine returned to operation after testing.
This is why good aesthetic equipment repair starts with inspection.
The symptoms may be complicated.
The cause may not be.
Fotona QX MAX: Electrical and Optical Problems Can Exist Together
Fotona systems can require deeper troubleshooting because several systems must work together.
One QX MAX we evaluated had more than one failure.
Testing identified:
- A power-supply problem
- One IGBT bank that was not operating correctly
- A damaged turning mirror
This is an important diagnostic lesson.
Repairing the power supply would not correct the damaged optical path.
Replacing the mirror would not fix the power electronics.
Both problems had to be identified separately.
That is why weak output or firing problems should be traced through the entire system before major components are ordered.
Venus Legacy Repair
Venus Legacy is another good example of why not every aesthetic machine should be called a laser.
The platform uses radiofrequency-based technology.
Our recent Venus Legacy service work has included:
- Touchscreen recalibration
- System checks
- Operator troubleshooting
- General preventative maintenance
Modern practices often own lasers, RF platforms, IPL systems, and body-contouring equipment at the same location.
Service technicians need to understand the technology—not just recognize the manufacturer.
BTL Service: Sometimes the Problem Is Software
Aesthetic systems are increasingly computers as much as they are energy-delivery devices.
Our work on a BTL Vanquish system included preventative maintenance, coolant-related checks, performance verification, and console troubleshooting.
The system had also accumulated files that were affecting console performance.
After cleaning up the software environment and completing the technical checks, the machine operated more smoothly.
Not every problem comes from a pump, power supply, or optical component.
Sometimes the computer needs attention too.
Palomar StarLux 500: Older Does Not Mean Finished
We continue to encounter older Palomar StarLux systems still working in active practices.
Our service on these platforms has included:
- Handpiece output checks
- Filter replacement
- Cooling inspection
- Preventative maintenance
- General condition evaluation
A discontinued or older platform should not automatically be condemned.
Instead, look at:
- Measured output
- Handpiece condition
- Cooling
- Electronics
- Parts availability
- Service history
- Repair cost
The question is not simply:
How old is it?
The better question is:
Does it still make sense to maintain it?
Zeltiq: Electrical Noise Without a Failed Board
One Zeltiq body-contouring system produced alarming electrical noise and intermittent behavior.
A control board would have been an easy suspect.
Instead, our technician inspected the internal wiring.
Some wiring had been routed too close to sensitive electronics and was creating interference.
The wiring was repositioned.
Then the machine went through an extended test cycle.
The owner later reported that the system continued running normally.
No major board replacement was required.
Error Codes Tell You Where to Look
Many repair mistakes begin when an error code is treated like a parts list.
A flow error does not automatically mean the flow sensor failed.
A dead handpiece does not always mean the handpiece needs replacement.
A communication fault does not automatically mean the PCB is bad.
An output problem does not automatically mean the laser head has failed.
The error gives you a starting point.
Testing finds the cause.
Why Multi-Brand Aesthetic Equipment Repair Matters
Practices rarely own equipment from only one manufacturer.
A single location may have:
- Candela
- Cynosure
- Sciton
- InMode
- Fotona
- Quanta
- Alma
- Cutera
- Venus Concept
- BTL
Calling a different company for every machine becomes expensive and inefficient.
A technician who understands cooling, power supplies, optics, electronics, communication, and delivery systems can often diagnose problems across many brands.
Of course, some proprietary software, restricted calibration functions, or unavailable parts may still require manufacturer involvement.
A good independent service company should tell you when that line has been reached.
Aesthetic Equipment Repair Should Start With Evidence
Good aesthetic equipment repair does not mean claiming every machine can be fixed independently.
It means approaching the equipment methodically.
Check the cooling system.
Follow the electrical supply.
Inspect the optics.
Measure the output.
Test communication.
Verify the repair.
Then replace only what the evidence supports.
